Story story!!!
There is this lady. What we going to call her? Let’s call her Liz. So one day Liz woke up. It was just a normal morning for her. It would be a life changing day, this particular day, but she would not know that waking up now would she. So Liz went on with her daily morning routine. She left for the morning and headed over to work. Her colleagues picked her up (I assume) and in a few minutes she was at work. After a few minutes of slagging around the office, she was now ready for work.
Liz works at one of the police call centers. So her job was to pick calls and direct them accordingly. So, if someone was getting robbed then they would call the callcentre and report they were being robbed and then Liz would ask the police on patrol around that area to get where you are being robbed and save you from being robbed. (Something tells me you would already be robbed). Sometimes, the patrol car did not have enough fuel, and the victim would then part with a few coins to ensure that the cars were fueled. Just Business as usual. So on this particular morning she got caught up with what had happened the night before and ready she was to start her work.
During the day, she received a call. Just like normal, she received it. Without following any of the customer service decorum she started talking. On the other end of the line, the gentleman introduced herself. ‘This is Uhuru Kenyatta, President Uhuru Kenyatta. Who am I speaking to?’ Liz, at once recognized it a prank call. Her response, ‘Wewe sio Uhuru, unadanganya nani?’ she then preceded to haul insults to him and finally she hang up. Real slick!
Ten minutes later, she noticed a commotion as the call center. The President had shown up at the call center. Liz could not believe it. She froze. She could not move nor breathe, nor blink. She was in shock. So the president walked right to her and greeted her. ‘Hello, we just spoke on the phone.’ the President said. Liz’s boss was there. He tried to apologize and explain that that was not the standard of service offered to Kenyans. However, the president was not angry. He instead challenged Liz’s boss to train her and make her better. Then he left.
Phweks!!!! Right? No! Not Phweks! Imagine the torture to Liz’s mind and person. Imagine what that did to her self-esteem. Imagine was she felt that day and the days that followed. How she saw her self, remembering her words she said to the president vs seeing him in person appear in-front of her. Just because she decided not to offer service and instead alter words without thinking about what she was saying.
